For V3 of my flipper bot, I had the entire chassis printed as a single Onyx part by EndBots.com! This saves a ton of weight and allows me improve the pneumatic system.

  • 2x the tanks!
  • 2x the valves!

Highlander’s air supply didn’t last very long with just one tank. Plus, the working pressure of the robot declines quickly with every flip. But now, with double the tanks, it lasts much longer! The flipper also has a lot more pop now with double the air flow. I got the valves to fire at the same time by soldering their servo plugs together. The new ram, an SMC pancake cylinder that VEX resells, has a lot more force too! (44 pounds at 100psi!). To save weight, I sawed off most of the excess aluminum around the sides that’s used for mounting and isn’t critical to the pressure vessel aspect.

Wedges and 3d printed to armor mount to the robot with heat-set inserts! These melt into the chassis with a soldering iron and then act like a nut to thread bolts into.
