The Highlander V9

Time for another Highlander! Starting things off with a fresh nylon print. Nylon loves to curl, so these “lily pads” are added to keep the part from curling during the printing process, then are snipped off after. I also decided to make the baseplate its own part since carbon fiber is much more rigid than nylon, which helps with maintaining flipper power.

The front wedges are also swappable depending on my opponent. I have different configs for undercutters/drums, verts, and other control bots.

The version above fought at Robot Resurrection and took 1st place! However, for it’s next event, I wanted to try swapping out the nylon chassis for TPU. So this is V9.5 or something. The TPU armor was incredibly strong, but the extra flop cost me a bit of slipping power. Plus, TPU is much heavier than nylon, meaning I was… overweight again. Woooooo. I decided to go back to my roots and replace the tops with duct tape. The robot still performed well and got 2nd.
